"Wooster" Weekend

Little man had a really fun Easter Weekend. Our community had an Easter (Adrian calls it Wooster) egg hunt. I suppose it wasn't much of a hunt since they were all laid out in the parameter of the basketball court. Adrian was funny, he discovered trinkets in the first egg he found. He was occupied by the trickets and no longer wanted to hunt for the other eggs. Daddy hunted for him and got a pretty good Easter loot.

We also dyed a few eggs but little man just wanted to crack them all and spill the dye, just exactly how I expected it. Grampa and Granma came to visit and we met up with Uncle Erik and Auntie Cat for dinner.

Happy Easter, everyone!

A Typical Evening at The Otto Household

Someone once asked me how I was able to spend so much time on the computer in the evenings. Well, after being a Mom for 2 years, Ie leardn how to multi-task and get things done to have some down time once in a while. Seriously though, it's just routine that we've all gotten used to. I'll take you through a semi-average evening in our household.

I leave work at 4:30 p.m., pick up Adrian from Ms. Robyn's and be home by a little after 5 p.m. The little man and I walk Miko on the trail, run off some steam, and to pick dandelions in the backyard. Dandelions are the only flowers he is allowed to pick. I picked up this Pooh head helmet from a consignment sale the other day and he's been asking for me to put it on him. Zac just shakes his head when I put this silly helmet on him.

The littl man runs around for about 15 minutes on the trail yelling at markers HOA had spray painted on the trail. He runs to these markers and he'll make out a few letters, mostly As. I eventually get him to come inside to play in the room next to the kitchen, which we turned into a playroom for him. Of course, every night he completely trashes it. Luckily, he's learning how to clean up at the end of the day. ;) So a typical day there are books, blocks, toys, and puzzle pieces scattered about. We play with the bllllllocks, read books (fish! num num! choo choo! moooooo! star! sun! elfant! dogs! cold (aka ice cream)! etc.) Then it was on to pushing around a Mega Blok fire engine and smash-smash-smashing it into the wall. I swear he's going to put a dent in it (the wall, not the vehicle). After that, he runs around screaming at Miko "come here, come here, COME MIKO!" He's not a fan of Miko sharing his small balls and stuffed animals but all Miko's toys are Adrian's. Miko just sits there with a grumpy look on her face, basically not giving a rat's behind about the screaming toddler, except when he tries to run the fire engine into her. By this point, the little man is grumpy and hungry so dinner is served. He always asks to bring a toy to the table but the toy always end up being sent back to where it came from. Distractions are usually great but not at dinner table.

After dinner, we play with the choo choos. Little man LOVES his choo choos and his train table we got him for Christmas. It's been practically attached to his hip since! He makes car vrooming noises when he has the cars drive around the streets, a whooshing sound for the airplane and helicopter, and a bajillion CHOO CHOO noises whenever they trains are riding the rails. Something that really impresses me with his trains is that he knows they have to go a certain way for the magnets to work. I think most kids would get ticked off if the trains didn't automatically stick together...not the little man. He even always seems to know which way they HAVE to go before trying to stick them together. And not all of the trains and trucks have faces on them to help indicate which way they need to be facing.

After playing trains we'll catch an episode of Yo Gabba Gabba. I try to get him to dance to the Get the sillies out song. Little man is so intense sometimes he just looks at me like lady, you're crazy. The sad thing is, those songs are really catchy and I find myself singing them during the day at work. After Yo Gabba Gabba is over, it's time for night routine (bath, reading time and bedtime) and clean up the playroom. During bath he loves to splash and get Zac and I completely wet. He also loves to shower these days. He'll ask for "shawwaaa" but when the water comes from the shower he runs away screaming. He gets into his animal pajamas and admires the racoons and other forest animals. Runs off to his room but tries to get over the gate (obstacle) before I pick him up and enter his room. He ask for his paci (which we are going to have to wean soon ***dreading***) and pick the book of the night. I usually pick the Chica Chica Boom Boom book and sing ABC to him. Once again he'll point out all the A's and sometimes lower letter Is. He goes to bed with no qualm. Ah, then peace until 6am and we do it all over again :)
