Happy Halloween Everyone!

It had been a fun night of treat or treating, even with a costume change. Last minute Adrian decided he didn't want to be a fire fighter but Godzilla. A is such a ham, when the neighbors opened their door A. tried to get into their house. He was also intrigued by all their Jack O Lanterns, picking them up and inspecting them. I should have known T&T would rock his world! Later in the night Adrian even gave out candy to T&Ters. He was so cute, he greeted them with a huge smile and then waved goodbye to them as they left.

A. is in bed. I'm separating his candy into "Adrian" and "Mama" piles. And then I may go ahead and eat both piles. Happy Halloween!

Halloween Party At Mrs. Fari's

On Friday Mrs. Fari threw a Halloween party for the boys. Mrs. Fari's generosity is just one wonderful attribute out of many I will miss. It's difficult that Adrian will be moving on to a new daycare provider but I think it's the best for Adrian in a long run.

Baby Down Down Down

This song playing on the background....Down by Jay Sean. Adrian loves this song. He was fussing in the car over the weekend but when this song came on the radio he stopped fussing and started dancing and pumping his arms like Woot Woot in his carseat. It's totally hilarious! it's worth pulling over for!

More "Punkins"

Adrian can't walk in the front door without saying hi to the "punkins".

Choo Choo From Grandpa Charlie

Grandpa Charlie, I love my Choo Choo!

2009 Barktoberfest

Barktoberfest=festival sponsored by a local pet shelter. Adrian was happy as long as the bands continued to play music.

Music Appreciation

Air and Space Museum

We've been to the Udvar Hazy Air and Space Museum with Adrian once before and he enjoyed running around in the vast space inside the hanger. This visit to the air and space museum had more of an impact on the little man. He LOVED the planes. He ran around and screamed "plane". Pointing at them while counting them, except there were always "two" of them. This place is the perfect place to let little man blow off some steam, especially parking is free after 4pm daily.

Meeting Emily

We met up with Connie, Naomi, and Gabi, Heather, Chris, Lisa and Emily for Brunch at Connie's house. This is the first time we met Emily and she is such a good little baby. Heather says Emily a good sleeper and she proved it by sleeping most of her visit. After brunch we hit the pumpkin patch for the first time this Fall. Adrian loves pumpkins and calls them "punkins". He likes to hug them but for some reason he wouldn't use his hands so it just looks like he's listening to the "punkins". Adrian also transported/organized the little "punkins". Let's hope he has better organizational skills than I do! We have a few more patches planned, so this won't be the last you'll see Adrian and his beloved pumpkins this season!

Two Nuts In a Shell - We Took a 19 Months Old to Disney World!!!

.... and we had a blast!

Three months ago when I mentioned that we'll be taking Adrian to Disney many of you thought Zac and I are crazy. Why in the world would you spend all this money and take an infant to Disney when he won't remember a darn thing, many of you asked. True, he will not remember this trip but the magical moments we spent together this past week is priceless and memorable. World Disney World is still the most magical place on earth. Standing on Main Street in Magic Kingdom watching Cinderella's Castle change colors is one of the most treasured moments in my life....it still is and this time around and who's better than my loving husband and my super son standing by my sides. Yup, I still get teary being near the castle! We tried teaching little guy to say castle but it came out as A _ _ Hole. It was a total moment from the movie Meet the Parents.

Day 1 - We arrived at Bay Lake Tower after an hour of Magical Express ride. After reading reviews about this bus transportation to and from MCO to WDW properties I was thinking this may not be a "magical" nor an "express" experience. I was so relieved to not have to wait in lines for hours and our luggage didn't get lost and made it to our room in one piece. We had dinner reservation that evening at the Crystal Palace, character dining with Pooh and the gang. After a long wait in the rain (it was a bummer that it rained the first day!) we were escorted to the mayhem that was suppose to be one of Disney's fun character dining. I think other than the characters the experience was less than desired. Zac and I both agreed the food was lackluster. I have to say the reaction from Adrian when he met Pooh and the characters made the evening much better. He loves all characters, that is an understatment. He follows them around and asks for hugs.

Day 2 - This is the first day of two days at Magic Kingdom. The rain stopped but we melted in the 90 some degree heat. We all know how humid Orlando can be. Despite the heat, we were determined to see the park. I had goals of seeing all the attractions suggested from the Unofficial Guide to Disney. I was not about to deter from the touring plan. The morning was smooth sailing. We had no lines in any of the attractions. We got on Winnie the Pooh, Mickey's PhilarMagic, and it's a Small World. What do you know, I lost the touring plan half way through the morning, serves me right for being so rigid. As the obsessive planner I was disappointed I lost my game plan. We spent rest of the day riding rides in the order from my memory. Thank goodness I had been studying Disney for the last three months. Okay, I'll stop being my OCD self. Anyhow, we had an awesome time winging the rest of the day.

Day 3 - Another sweltering hot day at Magic Kingdom. I'm not a big fan of the revolving rides but I thought Dumbo is a must ride at Disney. At least for the photo opportunity. I still feel dizzy thinking about it going around and around. I guess I didn't learn my lesson since you'll see me ride Triceratops at Animal Kingdom, another revolving kiddy ride. We saw a few 3 D shows that scared Adrian. Poor little guy, we still felt bad but we honestly didn't think these shows would have the scare factors. Adrian is so advanced sometimes we forget he's only 19 months old. We went to Mickey's Toontown fair and meandered through Mickey and Minnie's home. It's a must do if you have a little one! took the train around the park. Adrian loves "choo choos" and we were glad to ride on them and give our sore feet a rest. It's unfortunate that strollers aren't allowed in the attractions. our biceps got a real workout this past week from carrying little man through the lines.

Day 3 (evening)- Zac and I hired a babysitter through a outside agency (still associated with Disney). we had a date in Epcot! it reminded me why we were so perfect together and why we married each other. While little man slept soundly at the resort Zac and I had teppanyaki at Teppan Edo in Japan (one of the World showcases in Epcot). After dinner we enjoyed each other's company and walked around the world showcases, they are so stunning when they're lit at night. Seeing the World Showcases reminded me that I want to visit these countries and share the cultures with Zac and Adrian one day.

Day 4 - This was our day at Animal Kingdom. I heard someone mention it hit the record high for temp. in October for Orlando. It was 94 degrees. Good thing AK had a lot of trees and shades. I patted my back for being a good planner and saved AK on the hottest day of the week. Adrian met many animals at AK. The Kalamanji Safari ride was a hoot. The safari truck ride through the bumpy safari roads got us out of the sun and it was a treat to be off of our feet. The driver with an Austrilian accent did a awesome job pointing out all the animals to us, even a super cute war hog taking a nap in a cave. Every time we pointed an animal out to Adrian he made the noise the animal made. Surprising how many animals sounded like a cow to Adrian! Zac had the opportunity to ride on Expedition Everest, a thrilling roller coaster ride. I'm sure he'll be chatting it up for weeks. The week went by so fast. Zac asked me what's on the agenda for tomorrow and he was in disbelief that I told him it's our departure day.

Day 5 - We were so sad to be going home. Zac made pancakes in our lovely vacation kitchen and then we checked in our flight and our luggage directly from our hotel. Disney really does a good job making sure you don't do too much carrying. I guess they figure having children to carrying around is enough. Disney knows how to host a vacation and they do it on an epic scale. We stayed on the property and got the meal plan free this time around. This meant that I only really had to carry around my room key which also served to deduct meal points. It was more than enough food and got Adrian all kinds of cool snacks. It was all handled and very stress free. The cast members bent backwards to make us happy. The waiters went beyond to find Adrian soy milk when all they offered was cow's milk. Disney is truly the happiest place on earth.

I cannot wait until Adrian is a bit older and is able to enjoy these Disney pictures and home videos with me. The planner in me is already thinking of a Christmas Tree ornament to represent our spectacular 2009 Disney trip.

Saturday Morning-When Mommy Learns To Let Go

The walls at JW Tumbles are padded. The floor is soft. The exercising apparatus has a fluffy POOF pillow under it. And shoes are a definite no-no. This is not the nuthouse in Ashburn - this is where I learn to let go. I learned a valuable lesson from little man and the dozen other baggy-butted toddlers at JW Tumbles. Children, apparently, are not made of whipped cream. More importantly, I realized that Adrian will become a much more independent individual during his all-important formative years without us surgically attached to him. I took advantage of the fact that JW Tumbles is a safe haven for small children who have a place to learn about the importance of friendship, physical activity, arts and music. BTW, I was so proud that little man patiently waited his turn to ride on the electric train today, I think we as parents are doing something right!!! :)

Grocery Shopping

...out of my pantry. You would think he waits at least until he moves out to shop from my pantry!

Little Man Repeats Himself Incessantly!

Speaking to little man is like speaking to Mr. Short term Memory. Do all toddlers do this? Our 10 minute car ride today consisted of him asking for Miko and Dada. I'm sure he just likes using his vocab and I'm a crappy mom for wanting to drive off the road.

Adrian: babble babble Dada?

Me: Yes, Dada will be home shortly after we arrive at home.

Adrian: Dada?

Me: Yes, Dada will be home soon.

Adrian: babble babble Mimi (aka Miko)? gets side tracked and screams out Trrrrruuuuuccckkkkk and then repeatedly yells truck truck truck truuuuccckk.

Me: what color is truck?

Adrian: babble babble Truck.....Daaaddaaaa?

Aaaaand repeat asking for Dada 1,569 times. It's hilarious!

Growing Up!

Since your first day, dada and I talked about you all the time. Before we fall asleep we talk about the things you do. We talk about your determination. You never let anything go. If you want it, you'll get it at all costs. Mama thinks you were born with a plan to get up and go - and every day you get closer to the goal. We also talk about how smart you are, new words you've said and new connections you make. Your vocabulary at only 18 months is immense. Your intelligence has surpassed all of our expectations. You even know what "no more" is. How can an 18 month old understand the concept of no more?! Seems impossible, yet every time you finish a snack and I tell you no more you seem to be okay with it! And in the past week you've even started counting to 3 when we start counting. Its so so hard to believe it all.

I try to capture your growth and progress in all these photos and words, but there are so many changes every day, its hard to keep up with! So many things sneak up on us. When we're carrying you in our arms, when did you start holding back? When did you gain a sense of humor, laughing at the tv and at us? When did you get a temper, yelling at me "aat, aat!" (out) when I don't unbuckle you from your highchair. When did you learn where my ears are, even moving my hair out of the way to find them? When in the world did you learn all these new, random words like "digger" and "buckle"?

I hear a lot of new mamas talk about how much they miss being pregnant. How they miss having their babies so close to them and all to themselves. I can't say I have ever missed being pregnant. I was so happy the day you were born. So happy you were finally a part of our family. So happy to see my baby grow into a toddler. I loved every stage this first year (maybe not the sleep deprievation part) and was in awe of every milestone reached. And now, I can't wait to see what's next. To take you places and do things with you. To see you develop your own sense of style, your own interests and talents. I can't wait to take you shopping for clothes that you pick out, to decorate your room the way you want it, to see you on a sports team, and to build sandcastles together. I can't wait to watch you grow.

Lovely Fall Day At The Park

First Day of JW Tumbles Class

JW Tumbles is an indoor playground that offers a different programs for each class. We hope little man builds social and physical developmental skills as well as have fun in the program. As the weather turns cooler outside we figure we have to bring the fun indoor and what a great way to let him blow off some steam on Saturday mornings. The bonus is I don't have to sign up for a gym, chasing little man around at JW Tumbles for an hour is my workout for the week! Phew!

Building Masculinity

Maybe little guy will be handy like his daddy and his daddy's daddy. I just couldn't resist these Black and Decker toy tools, toolbelt and hard hat from Target.
